Mozart de Oliveira has worked around the world as a highly sought-after voice teacher for aspiring and professional opera singers. His students sing in major opera houses across the globe, including the Vienna Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Liceu Opera Barcelona, Metropolitan Opera House, Houston Grand Opera, Paris Opera, Santa Fe Opera, San Francisco Opera, Israeli Opera, San Jose Opera, and Tanglewood Festival. He has worked under the mentorship of Patricia McCaffrey, the internationally recognized vocal technician, for two decades.
Mr. de Oliveira currently teaches at Brooklyn College, Manhattan School of Music, and the Israeli Opera House, has taught voice at the Summer Opera Tel Aviv Summer Festival, and maintains private studios in New York, Berlin, and Tel Aviv. A proponent of the Bel Canto school of singing, Mr. de Oliveira emphasizes freeing the voice to promote vocal health and beauty of tone. Known for his keen ears, he crafts individualized lessons to help singers mine the depths of their gifts, as well as inspire them to discover their unique artistry.
Before immigrating to the United States, Mr. de Oliveira worked as the house repetiteur at Guaira Opera House in Curitiba, Brazil. He later joined the faculty at Boston Conservatory, where he served as an assistant conductor, before serving for several seasons as the assistant chorus master at New York City Opera. As a pianist, he has performed at Avery Fisher Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, and Carnegie Hall, as well as concert halls throughout Europe, the Middle East, and South America.
Mr. de Oliveira holds a Bachelor of Music degree in voice and piano from the School of Music and Fine Arts of Parana, Brazil, a Master of Music degree, and a Professional Studies Certificate in Collaborative Piano from Manhattan School of Music.
